Being told to “add more detail” or “make it more perceptive” is not always especially illuminating. This resource gives students something concrete to examine: a complete, Grade 9-standard model response to an original AQA-style exam question.
The answer has been written to demonstrate top-level skills, including:
a clear and focused argument;
thoughtful, developed interpretations;
carefully selected evidence;
precise analysis of the writer’s methods;
confident use of subject terminology;
logical paragraphing; and
a conclusion that does more than repeat the introduction while wearing a slightly different hat.
Students can read and annotate the response, compare it with their own work, identify useful techniques and use it as a guide when attempting a new question. It is designed to show what an excellent answer can do—not to provide a mysterious paragraph that must be memorised and deployed regardless of what the exam actually asks.
This download includes:
one entirely original AQA-style practice question;
an original source or extract where the question requires one; and
one complete Grade 9-standard model answer demonstrating how a confident, developed response could approach the question.
